| It is a short description in the style of "Fast Start".
About the program.
The main window. View mode.  The main window is splitted vertically into two. On the left side - records tree. There are the folders and files. The folders and files are the records, since they both can contain a user names, passwords and other information. Folder - this is a normal record with the only difference the folder contains the files or folders. To be deleted all the attached files and folders in the folder, it automatically becomes a file. You can use the following buttons to add, delete, move up and down folders and files.  The last [  ] button opens or closes all the folders in the tree. Press [  ] button to open the search panel of the tree. Use right mouse button to open the context menu of the tree. Menu item [Paste] means - paste files or folders copied below the current record. Menu item [Paste into] means - paste files or folders copied into the current record. If the current record is the file - it will automatically turn into the folder. To copy and delete records: Group of records can be selected clicking the mouse when you press [Shift] keyboard key. You can select several individual records - click when you press [Ctrl] keyboard key . On the right side - the window to view and edit records. It shows the contents of the selected record. You can drag-and-drop login, password or other values from this window to another. On top of the window you can select the text mode.  In the open mode, the entire text of the record is open on the screen. In the normal mode, passwords and pins are shown as asterisks. In the hidden mode, all the text values are shown as asterisks. The last button [the pencil] toggles(switches) the program from the view mode to the edit mode. The main window. Edit mode.
 To open Edit Mode press a button with a pencil image. In the edit mode the additional panel is appearing.  The first 4 buttons: [+] to add new line - the field of the record, [-] to delete the current line, [^] to move line up, [v] to move line down. Next 2 buttons: the virtual keyboard and the random password generator. These buttons go only with a text cell. The last two buttons [Cancel] and [OK] define a way to complete the editing of a record - Discard or Apply changes, respectively. If you do not press these buttons after having edited, but another item is selected in the window on the left (in records tree), in the case the change of the edited record will be applied. The fields of the editor table.  To change the values - Icon, Pass, Capt, File - Use the right mouse button and context menu or press [Enter] or double-click the left mouse button in a cell. Icon - it's just an icon - choose any. Pass - if there are the asterisks [***], it means the contents of a cell value will be shown as the asterisks in the normal mode. Capt - if there's a picture [123], then by drag-and-drop this line from LSN Password Safe to the external program, the Captcha number will be shown as a picture, which is necessary to type on the keyboard. The number in the picture usually easily recognized by humans, but a good Captcha is an impossible task for computer. In our case Capcha protects against spyware program - an emulator, which imitate human actions. To hide/show any type of Captcha: [Main Menu / Tools / Security / Captcha]. File - If select the cell, right click, you'll see a context menu where you can select the "Add File Name" or "Add File" and to copy the file name or a file into a record. If the record has a file, there is a floppy disk image, in that cell. Then, of course, you can copy the file from the program to disk. |

- Copying files. Program LSN Password Safe uses a special algorithm for writing files on disk, in which the structure of the file depends of the physical and logical parameters of the disc. As a result, to read the file correctly is possible on the disk only where the file is recorded. To copy a data file to another drive you must: 1. Open the file in the LSN Password Safe: [Main Menu / File / Open]. 2. Save the file to another disk in the LSN Password Safe: [Main Menu / File / Save As]. To copy or move the files from folder to folder on a single disk you can use any way. It is correct. - Synchronization. Every time a file is created or saved by [Main Menu / File / Create Safe or Save As], a new file is automatically added to the list of synchronization. List of synchronization can be viewed and manually edited here: [Main Menu / Tools / Synchro and Backup]. All files input in the list of synchronization are automatically overwritten (synchronized) up to the latest version of the data. No matter which drive letter will be assigned by the disk mounted in the system. In any case, the disk and the files will be correctly synchronized. - Automatic backup. For each file with the data there is automatically created folder [backup] in the data file folder. In the folder [backup] there are several folders, with the date, time of creation and a copy of data file. For example, the path to the data file - [C:/demo.saf], then the backup copy can be located at [C:/backup/2009-02-21_17-06-04/demo.saf]. You can set count of backup copies here: [Main Menu / Tools / Synchro and Backup / Select Backup Count] (Default - 10). If the number of existing copies is equal to the limit, the new copy will overwrite the latest one (with change the date-time in the names of folders). Backup files are created if there is a change and no more than once a day. Thus, by default, the 5 backup copies give you 5 days to detect errors (and restore damaged data). - Attention! Simultaneous use of LSN Password Safe and a program-switcher (it automatically switch the keyboard layout), can lead to software conflict. To prevent this, you can: 1. Add LSN Password Safe in the switcher exclusion list, or 2. Turn off automatic switch in switcher for the data entry time, or 3. Turn off antikeylogger in LSN Password Safe (not recommended). In the latter case, is safer to use a virtual keyboard for data entry. |
